I was raised as the son of a fundamental, independent, Baptist preacher and as such am following in the footsteps of those who have gone before. I have spent a lifetime in various ministry work in numerous churches. I have taught every age group as well as providing periodic pulpit supply.
I attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield IL and Fellowship Baptist College in East Peoria IL. I have served as Minister of Christian Education at the Lincoln Southern Baptist Church, Director of the Lincoln Land chapter of Child Evangelism Fellowship and served as the pastor of the Latham Baptist Church.
With this background I belief God has led me to a ministry to help local pastors as they try to serve God by winning the lost and feeding the flock.
Doctrinally and philosophically I am a fundamental Baptist in the mold of the sixties and early seventies. I believe that if personally or as a church we are ineffective in our witness the place to look is in the mirror. The lost still have the same needs as always, God is still the same as always, the only thing that has changed is us. We, His people suffer from an appalling lack of faith, and a stubborn desire to do things our way without truly seeking God's will.
What I find interesting is that so many methods used by growing churches today are methods that fundamentalist were using years ago. I have found three important factors to church growth.
Friendly congregation- No visitor should ever feel like a stranger. Biblical preaching & teaching- People know when they aren't being fed. Substantive children's program- Parents know if they are seeing a change in the lives of their children.
